If you’ve seen the “Welcome to PlayStation Vita” Video we posted up yesterday, you may have noticed a bit where they mention “first party software titles will be available on the same day via Playstation Vita game cards at retail stores and digitally via the Playstation Network.”
In the past, games have been released to the network days or even weeks after the games were released in Stores. And on some occasions, the game was released on to the PSN before hitting retail stores. Having same-day availability will mean Sony can maximise on game sales – avoiding issues like disappointing customers due to stock shortages – since the game can be downloaded via the PSN.
However, it’s unclear if third-party publishers are able to guarantee the same thing. The publishers may have the option to choose if they want a simultaneous release.
