Team17 have announced that Worms will be coming to the PS Vita later this year, in a new title called Worms Revolution Extreme. The game will have an extensive single player campaign spanning 47 missions and 25 puzzles, local and online multiplayer, and cross-play functionality with the PS3.
The PS Vita’s front touch screen can be used to select items and zoom the camera, while the rear touch pad can be used to aim your weapons. Worms Revolution Extreme also lets you take part in local or online multiplayer battles for up to four players, with three multiplayer modes:
- Deathmatch
- Forts
- Classic
New for PS Vita (and PS3) is the cool Cross-Gifting feature, dubbed Treasure Mode. This all new mode enables you to link up with your friends who have a PS3 system (or vice versa). You can help each other unlock 10 special gifts using a lock and key system. Meet the requirements in either offline Versus or online battles to receive a key and connect to a friend’s PlayStation 3 or PS Vita system with the corresponding chest to unlock the treasure.
Gamers will also be able to continue their PS3 game on the PS Vita thanks to the cross-save functionality in the game (or vice-versa).
Worms Revolution Extreme is due for a Q3 2013 release and will be available for PS Vita and PS3.
