The PlayStation Vita is really going to be huge when it’s released next year in North America and Europe. The portable console has a lot of potential as a gaming device as well as media, thanks to the innovative technology that makes up the PlayStation Vita. Sony’s Playstation Vita has long been slated for a December release in Japan, but Sony has just announced at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco that their new portable will be hitting shelves in North America and in Europe on February 22 2012. We already knew the PSVita was expected in early 2012, but it’s good to get a confirmed date.
ModNation Racers on the title has finally received an official name from the developers. The PlayStation Vita title will be officially called ModNation Racers: Road Trip. More details about the game will be revealed in the coming months but in the mean time, you can see some of our previous coverage on the game here, and the first video of the game in action here.

Over the past few months, lots of new information about the PlayStation Vita has been revealed. For example, earlier today, SCEE revealed the PSVita’s official box design and information on the launch applications. Below, we have included a summary of other useful information about the upcoming portable console.
SCEE have today revealed the final box design for both the PS Vita Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi & 3G models which were first unveiled at Tokyo Game Show. In addition, SCEE have also revealed the app icons, features and services that come pre-installed on PS Vita at launch.
A super short video has surfaced of a PlayStation Vita showing Killzone 3 gameplay using Remote Play. Although the video was recorded using a shaky camera, the quality is pretty decent. We’ve filed this under rumor for now since we cannot confirm the authenticity of the video.
Check out some new gameplay footage of Uncharted: Golden Abyss on the PlayStation Vita. John Garvin, writer and director of the title, runs through two of the levels that were featured this week at the Tokyo Game Show.
