YouTube user digitalarts001 has made it possible to run Left 4 Dead with motion controls on the PS Vita, using a custom-build application on the PS Mobile SDK and Remote Desktop. The possibilities with PlayStation Mobile appear to be endless and the video below proves anything is possible on the PS Vita.
LittleBigPlanet Vita Beta Has Ended
The LittleBigPlanet Beta on the PS Vita has come to an end. Booting up the game now returns an error indicating that the beta is over, and prevents you from accessing any of the menu options. If you didn’t get a chance to enter the beta, you’ll have to wait until September 21st to get your hands on the full game.
White PS Vita Boosts Sales In Japan
Sales of the PlayStation Vita have doubled yet again in the week from June 25th – July 1st, following the release of the White PS Vita and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Sales increased by approximately 87% from 12,100 units to 22,638.
New Earth Defense Forces 3 Portable Trailer Released
D3 Publisher has released a new trailer for PlayStation Vita’s Earth Defense Forces 3 Portable. The big surprise in the footage is apparently the return of the Palewing character from EDF2. The character will be playable in the game.
EU PlayStation Store Update for July 4th 2012
New DLC for the PlayStation Vita and Videos are available on the European PlayStation Store this week. Not much else was added to the store this week.
What to Expect with PSOne Classics on PS Vita
Despite Sony claiming that the entire PSOne catalogue will work on the PS Vita at E3 early last month, its more likely that the catalogue will start small, and evolve over time. A bit like what we’ve already seen with PSOne titles on the PSP.
US PlayStation Store Update for July 3rd 2012
The PS Vita Store has received a very small update in North America this week. There are only two new items in the store this week – a DLC pack and a PSP title discount.
PSOne Classics Support Coming in PS Vita Firmware v1.80
Sony Japan has confirmed in a Press Release that PSOne Classics will be coming to the PS Vita in Firmware v1.80. The firmware update will be released at some point this summer, but a exact release date was not revealed. The PS Vita is currently on Firmware v1.69, so it’s expected that firmware v1.70 will be skipped in favour of v1.80.
YouTube App Impressions
The YouTube App was released on the PS Vita last week, making millions of video clips available from the video sharing site. YouTube compatibility on the PS Vita was something that was lacking on the PS Vita since launch, especially since the device doesn’t support Adobe Flash. Here are our impressions of the app in its current state, and what can be improved.
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection PS Vita Launch Trailer
The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection was released on the PlayStation Vita last week, and to celebrate its release Konami has released a new launch trailer for the title. The collection includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, but missed out Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker found on the console version of the game.
