PlayStation Vita System Software Ver. 1.80

Firmware v1.80 is an extensive update for the PS Vita that adds and improves many features across the system. One of most significant additions is PSOne Classics compatibility, and the ability to use the system using the D-Pad and face buttons.
PSOne Classics Support Coming in PS Vita Firmware v1.80

Sony Japan has confirmed in a Press Release that PSOne Classics will be coming to the PS Vita in Firmware v1.80. The firmware update will be released at some point this summer, but a exact release date was not revealed. The PS Vita is currently on Firmware v1.69, so it’s expected that firmware v1.70 will be skipped in favour of v1.80.
What We Want to See in PS Vita Firmware v2.0

The PS Vita is a great portable console, but the system software does have a long way to go before it can be called “perfect”. Like the PSP before it, Sony released firmware updates to add and update features on the console, making it better with each major update. The next big update to the PS Vita will be Firmware v2.0, and here is what we want to see included.
PS Vita Firmware v1.69 Now Live

A new minor firmware is now available for the PlayStation Vita, bringing the system software version to v1.69. The update is completely optional to install, but maybe required by some PS Vita games. An official changelog for the update wasn’t released, but we suspect it just improves compatibility with new PS Vita titles.

Game
- An issue that freezes the game screen has been observed in some PS Vita format software when the camera is used in-game. The issue is addressed in this version of the system software.

Settings
- [Notification Alert] has been added as a feature under Settings > [Sound & Display]. You can select whether you want to display notification messages when you receive new notifications.
- [After 10 Minutes] has been added as an option under Settings > [Power Save Settings] > [Auto Standby].
PS Vita Firmware Update v1.66

After PS Vita Firmware v1.65 was pulled yesterday due to some “technical difficulties,” Sony has now released PS Vita Firmware v1.66. Weighing in at 97MB, you can now update your console to the latest version via the [Settings] menu on the PS Vita or by using a PS3 or PC/Mac.
PS Vita Firmware Update v1.65 Taken Down

Those hoping to update their PlayStation Vita to the latest firmware version announced this morning will have to wait. Sony has confirmed that the update was taken down due to a technical fault. “For any customers who may have already downloaded the firmware, they can continue as normal,” said a spokesperson.
