The next PS Vita System Software Update (v1.65) will be released soon and will include a number of minor enhancements to the portable console. Unfortunately, PSOne compatibility is still missing as are other needed improvements to the system. Check out the changelog below.

PlayStation Vita System Software Ver. 1.61

In preparation for Wednesday’s wide release of PS Vita, Sony are releasing System Software Update (v1.61) for download. If you are just turning on your PlayStation Vita for the first time, this update will add a number of new features to the PS Vita (see below for a summary or check our Firmware v1.60 post).

- When power is on, PS button will now light blue. You can check the status of the light of the PS button type PS Vita.

- The order of the [flight mode] setting has changed. You can now set [Settings] > [Start] > In the airplane mode.
- You can now publish purchase information to Facebook.
- Player information is now displayed on the screen. Details of last 100 people passed in Near will be stored. Profile screen is displayed when you tap the online ID.
- It is now possible to report spam messages.
- You can now delete the backup files.
- Mac OS version of Content Manager is now available. In addition, the Windows version has been updated.
PlayStation Vita Firmware v1.60 Coming This Week

Another major firmware update for the PlayStation Vita is coming on February 8th in Japan. Firmware version 1.60 will add two major features to the portable console, including a new Map app and the ability to record videos with the existing Photo App, as well as adding Mac OS support.

Firmware v1.51 For PlayStation Vita Now Available

Sony has released Firmware update v1.51 for the PlayStation Vita to fix the freezing bugs experienced by some users. The Japanese PlayStation website doesn’t mention specific details for the update, except that it may be required to play certain games and when accessing PlayStation Network features.
