Despite being popular with developers and regular new content, Sony is shutting down PlayStation Mobile this July. Support for PlayStation Mobile has already been dropped on Android devices and soon it will be dropped for the PS Vita too.
On February 22nd 2015, the PS Vita celebrates it’s third birthday in Europe. And to celebrate, Sony has some great discounts on the PlayStation Store, giving you up to 50% off titles. PlayStation Plus subscribers can also save an additional 10% off selected games too.
Sony have announced that with immediate effect the YouTube and Map applications on the PS Vita have been discontinued. In addition, some features of the Near app will also be removed. The YouTube app has already been removed from the PlayStation and support for the app will cease on April 20th 2015.
Sony has released a new firmware update for the PS Vita, updating the system software to version v3.36. The minor update fixes an exploit in the system that allows the execution of custom code using PSP saved game data. The PSP emulator on the PS Vita has also been updated in this update, fixing issues with PSP game emulation.
New content is available in Europe this week, with six new PS Vita games, including Arcana Heart 3, Tiny Troopers Joint Ops, and Pocket RPG. You can also find lots of new add-on content as well as five new PlayStation Mobile titles.
