The recently discovered PS Vita exploit by Yifan Lu is limited in the possibilities it opens up to homebrew developers. Lu says he is working on a homebrew loader, but the exploit cannot be used to pirate games as the exploit only gives “user” access to the system.

Rumor Alert: PS Vita Exploit Discovered
News has surfaced this morning suggesting a new exploit on the PS Vita has been discovered, allowing native Vita code to be run. A previous exploit (which was later patched by Sony) allowed execution of PSP code via PSP games which has vulnerabilities. The details of the exploit have been kept secret to prevent Sony from patching it.
EU PlayStation Store Update for September 5th 2012
A number of new PS Vita games are available on the European PlayStation Store this week, including Treasure Park and Zen Pinball 2. You can also find a new Minis bundle and some DLC in this week update. No new PSOne classics have been added to the store this week, however.
US PlayStation Store Update for September 4th 2012
Zen Pinball 2 is available on the North American PlayStation Store this well, as well as a number of other titles. The free Treasure Park app has also been released too. Lastly, check out some discounts on Minis titles too.
Sony Reveals Huge PS Vita TGS Line Up
With the Tokyo Games Show just around the corner, Sony has revealed its line up of demos and playable games at the event. The PS Vita is again getting a big push from the company, with titles like Soul Sacrifice, PlayStation All Stars Battle Royal and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation leading the way.
Sony: PS Vita Performing Almost As Expected
At the IFA expo in Berlin this week, Sony CEO and President, Kazuo Hirai, once again confirmed that the PS Vita is performing as expected, but “trending behind in certain territories.” Sony went on the record to address reports of the Vita failing to sell worldwide, with the portable gaming marker dominated by iOS and Android devices.

This week in North America, gamers can download Madden NFL 13 for the PS Vita from the PlayStation Store, and find discounts on a number of PSP titles – all with 50% off.
PlayStation Vita System Software Ver. 1.80
Firmware v1.80 is an extensive update for the PS Vita that adds and improves many features across the system. One of most significant additions is PSOne Classics compatibility, and the ability to use the system using the D-Pad and face buttons.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection has been split into two titles for the PS Vita in this week’s PlayStation Store update in North America. PS Vita owners can download Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD or Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD separately. You can also find new Minis titles and DLC.
