What Happened to the PlayStation Vita at Sony’s E3 Press Conference?
Despite Sony’s E3 Press Conference supposedly focusing on the new portable console, there was very few PlayStation Vita related announcements. The PS Vita didn’t have its own showcase of games or focus during the press conference. A handful of PS Vita games were announced, including Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Confirmed for PS Vita
Although rumored for a while, Sony confirmed at their E3 Press Conference that All-Stars Battle Royale is heading to the PlayStation Vita, as well as PS3. The game will feature full cross-play support, which was demonstrated live on the conference floor, showing 2 Vita players against two PS3 players.
PlayStation Suite Rebranded to PlayStation Mobile
At E3, Sony announced that it’s PlayStation Suite will be rebranded. The Android-compatible environment supported by a number of mobile and tablet devices as well as the PS Vita will now be known as PlayStation Mobile. In addition, HTC has signed with Sony as the first third-party manufacturer to support PlayStation Mobile.
PSOne Classics and 60 New Games Coming to the PS Vita
At Sony’s E3 Press Conference, it was revealed that over 60 new titles will be coming to the portable console in 2012. This includes two of the new titles announced the event: Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified. In addition, PSone Classis will soon be supported on the portable console.
Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed Coming to Vita
At Sony’s E3 Press Conference, both Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed were confirmed for the PlayStation Vita. The Call of Duty game is dubbed Black Ops: Declassified will be the first AAA FPS title on the PlayStation Vita. Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation will feature a completely new story and a female protagonist.
Sony to Launch eBooks for PS3 and Vita at E3
According to a report from MCV, Sony are planning to spend some of their E3 press conference discussing a upcoming service called Storyteller, an eBook and interactive document system for both PS3 and PS Vita.
Walmart Offering $50 Gift Card with PS Vita Purchases
US retailer Walmart is offering a $50 gift card when you buy a Vita between June 3rd and June 9th. The offer isn’t directly from Sony, but this is the second mention of a price drop we’ve heard of in a week. Could this mean a permanent price drop is imminent?
Soul Sacrifice for PS Vita is Coming To Europe
It’s been announced that Soul Sacrifice for PS Vita will be coming to Europe. The legendary Keiji Inafune of Comcept is leading this project with MarvelousAQL, with Yasunori Mitsuda and Wataru Hokoyama working on the music and soundtrack.
YouTube Coming Soon to PS Vita
More good news for PS Vita owners! Sony has already announced a number of new Vita applications, including nico nico, Wake-up Club and Skype. Sony have now announced that the YouTube app will be coming soon to the Vita too.
